What is Pilates?
Pilates is an
anaerobic form of holistic exercise designed by Joseph
H. Pilates (1880-1968), to strengthen, lengthen, and balance the body. It focuses on breath, core strength, joint stabilization,
and coordination. Pilates is not about tiresome repetitions. These gentle exercises are to be performed precisely and slowly
with fewer repetitions (generally maximum 10). This gives more biofeedback to let your brain recognize the honest movement of the
muscles that are firing or not.
Pilates has many benefits, such as: improved posture; strengthening without building bulk;
slimming down and toning up; feeling energized; overcoming injury; improving flexibility and movement; and feeling better in our own bodies.

STOTT PILATES®.
