Our Instructors
Ki Lan
(pronounced ‘key DAHN’) Black is the owner of Honest Movement Pilates. Ki Lan has been teaching movement, choreographing, and performing professionally for over 20 years. Her teaching experience began with teaching dance. That passion to teach in a precise and body-mind beneficial way has transformed into how she teaches Pilates. She has seen how Pilates has transformed herself, especially after having a baby, and others to become stronger and more bodily aware. Ki Lan is a fully certified STOTT PILATES instructor and also a member of the Pilates Method Alliance.
Ki Lan understands how debilitating injuries can be and will do all that she can to help you prevent them. She also had chronic back pain for over a year, and finally after seeing 11 doctors had a laminectomy surgery to shave down a spinal disc in her low back. Her back pain and dance interest prompted her to take a more academic approach to the body. She started going back to school to focus on sciences and has been participating in educational programs about the body ever since.
Deb
Fialkow, Senior Instructor, received her STOTT PILATES Instructor
Training at Body Center Studios after observing the kinesthetic and postural
benefits of pilates in her own body. She is a professional actor and fight
director; and she has taught movement for theater since 1999 at
universities, schools, theater conservatories regional workshops and theater
programs. She continues to deepen her knowledge of movement, anatomy,
injuries and chronic pain, actively attending educational workshops in the
region.
Kimberly
Goodman, Senior Instructor, has taught at Honest Movement since 2007. She practiced Pilates for five years before beginning STOTT PILATES training in order to learn more about Pilates and her own body. She didn’t know that this would lead into a love of teaching Pilates. Being in competitive sports most of her life, Pilates was a whole new world. The more she learned about the Pilates method and anatomy and movement the more she loved Pilates. The paradigm shift into mindful exercise and body awareness has been life-altering. She has trained at Bodycenter Studios in Seattle and will continue to further her education in the STOTT PILATES method there. Kimberly is an Elementary School Social Worker and enjoys talking with and getting to know people and has enjoyed working with adults in addition to children. She takes an open and honest approach to Pilates practice and is mindful of creating a comfortable studio community where all people feel both welcomed and challenged. Being from Chicago, she has a great appreciation for the surrounding mountains and greenery and the amazing opportunities that surround the Issaquah area and beyond. Kimberly is an avid sports fan and enjoys being active and trying new things.
Crishna Grelle, Associate Instructor,
has been practicing Pilates since 2005 and completed her training at Bodycenter Studios in Seattle. While practicing massage since 1992,
she became intrigued and inspired by several clients and sought to experience for herself the changes that Pilates could bring
about in her body. Now since retired from massage, she brings forth her understanding of the pain and injury cycle and combines
it with the intelligent approach of STOTT PILATES. She enjoys teaching clients about their bodies and helping them to gain awareness
and control. Crishna continues her education in Pilates and likes to continually learn more about the mind-body connection.
She is excited and honored to be teaching with such a dynamic group of people at Honest Movement. In her free time she can be
found in her garden, hiking, traveling with her husband & dogs, and salsa dancing.
Heidi
Marten, Senior Instructor, discovered Pilates during college, and she loved the way it made her feel. She is certified in the STOTT PILATES method. She grew up dancing ballet, practicing gymnastics, and swimming. Heidi believes that the anatomical approach of STOTT PILATES helps to rebalance muscles, which in turn helps prevent injuries, making it an important exercise routine for everyone from the sedentary desk worker to the pro athlete.
Ingrid
Werner, Senior Instructor, was first introduced to Pilates while studying dance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she earned her BFA in Musical Theater. Pilates remained a key component of her professional career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher, ever reminding her of the importance of mind/body connection in movement and general well-being. Ingrid completed her training in the STOTT PILATES method at Bodycenter Studios and relishes sharing the positive impact of Pilates on people of all levels of fitness and rehabilitation, enhancing quality of life. She is so happy to be a part of Honest Movement.
Michelle
Wong, Senior Instructor, has been practicing Pilates since 2002. She trained at Bodycenter Studios in Seattle, and believes in the anatomical approach of the STOTT PILATES method. Michelle is honored to be part of Honest Movement and is excited about being able to help others reap the benefits of Pilates. She also enjoys practicing Yoga, NIA, aerobic exercises, and outdoor sports, and encouraging people to live a healthier life.
