ABOUT US
Honest Movement Pilates is the first fully
equipped Pilates studio in Issaquah, WA. All instructors are proudly
STOTT PILATES
trained or certified. All of our equipment is top quality STOTT
PILATES. We are excited to help clients gain strength and improve
their quality of life. We have experience helping clients with
various body characteristics including scoliosis, pre-natal, post-natal, osteo
arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, joint replacement surgery, postural
related pain, low back pain, and much more. Our clients feel better and
get more enjoyment from Golf, Ski Conditioning, Racquet sports, Dance,
etc. through strengthening key muscle groups and improving body
awareness. We love what we do and we'd love to share our knowledge with
you!
Ki Lan (pronounced ‘key DAHN’)
Black is the owner of Honest Movement Pilates. Ki Lan has been
teaching movement, choreographing, and performing professionally for
over 20 years. Her teaching experience
began with teaching dance. That passion to teach in a precise and
body-mind beneficial way has transformed into how she teaches Pilates.
She has seen how Pilates has transformed herself and others to become
stronger and more bodily aware. Ki Lan is a fully certified
STOTT PILATES
instructor and also a member of the
Pilates Method
Alliance.
Ki Lan understands
how debilitating injuries can be and will do all that she can to help
you prevent them. She also had chronic back pain for over a year, and
finally after seeing 11 doctors had a laminectomy surgery to shave down
a spinal disc in her low back. Her back pain and dance interest
prompted her to take a more academic approach to the body. She started
going back to school to focus on sciences and has been participating in
educational programs about the body ever since. Her latest interests
are Aston Patterning,
Laban Movement Analysis, and
the Shirley Sahrmann, PhD, PT, FAPTA, applications to
Movement Impairment Syndromes.
Kimberly
Goodman, Associate Instructor, had practiced Pilates for five years before
realizing that she could be a great instructor due to her enthusiasm for
the Pilates method. She trained at Bodycenter Studios in Seattle and
will continue to further her education in the STOTT PILATES method
there. She has been involved in competitive sports most of her life and
enjoys the paradigm shift into mindful exercise and body awareness. She
is an Elementary School Social Worker and enjoys talking with and
getting to know people. In addition to Pilates she has interests in
yoga, scuba diving, cycling and volleyball. Being from Chicago, she has
a great appreciation for the surrounding mountains and the amazing
opportunities that surround the Issaquah area and beyond.
Heidi
Marten, Associate Instructor, discovered Pilates during college, and she loved the way it made
her feel. She is trained in the STOTT PILATES method. She is also an
ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor. She grew up dancing ballet,
practicing gymnastics, and swimming. Heidi believes that the anatomical approach of STOTT PILATES
helps to rebalance muscles, which in turn helps prevent injuries, making
it an important exercise routine for everyone from the sedentary desk
worker to the pro athlete.
Michelle
Wong, Associate Instructor, has been practicing Pilates for 5 years, and knew she was going
to love it even before her first class. She receives instructor
training at Bodycenter Studios in Seattle, and believes in the
anatomical approach of the STOTT PILATES method. Michelle is honored to
be part of Honest Movement and is excited about being able to help
others reap the benefits of Pilates. She also enjoys practicing Yoga,
NIA, aerobic exercises, and outdoor sports.
